The length of time it takes to earn a private pilot certificate varies depending on the learner's schedule and availability. The minimum number of hours per FAA is 40 hours but most learners will take between 50 and 60 hours. Put simply, the more often you fly, the quicker you will obtain that certificate.
We suggest using a figure of $200/HR to cover rental aircraft + flight instruction. Given the national average of 50-60 hours, you can expect this portion of your journey to be around $10,000 to $12,000. There will be some additional costs - including FAA written exams, supplies, examination fees, etc.
Yes, we offer flight instruction for advanced certifications, including the commercial rating. At the present time, we are not able to offer the instrument add-on rating yet but check back with us! While the 172 is not eligible to provide instruction for a HP or complex endorsement, we do have access to additional aircraft that will be suitable.
Yes! We can offer training in your own airplane - including transition training. We have several clients who have their own airplanes - including Piper, Cessna, Grumman, Van's, etc.
Sorry, at this time we are not allowing renters or time-builders. Because our core business is flight instruction, we want to make sure N8262L is ready and available for that primary mission. If you are a current student, we do allow for limited rental time for the purpose of obtaining that certificate or rating.
Please email 3pointflight@gmail.com or call us at (832) 684-2046, we would love to discuss your aviation goals or objectives or to set up a discovery flight! At the same time, we will get the appropriate forms over to you and discuss what is needed to begin your journey.
We require $40,000 in non-owner's hull coverage, in additional to general liability insurance (usually bundled with renter's insurance) in the amount of $1M. We highly suggest reaching out to our preferred insurance broker - Chad Smolik, who can be reached at chad@aiexperts.biz.
Yes, we would be happy to provide a bi-annual flight review for you, either in N8262L or in your own airplane.
Our usual client is someone looking for high quality flight instruction that is custom to them. There are lots of great flight school options in the Houston area who specialize in making career pilots. We specialize in individuals who are looking for an experienced, independent instructor. Our goal is to provide an 1) individual, 2) safe and 3) fun environment for you to achieve your aviation goals.
In addition, we limit our aircraft to flight instruction only, to ensure that we are able to focus on our clients.
Our instruction rate is $50/HR, which is a standard industry rate.
The rental rate (wet) for N8262L is $150/HR, which includes fuel. Rental rate is based on the aircraft HOBBS meter.
Please call (832) 684-2046 or send us an email! The path to obtaining your aviation goals should be unique and customized to you! Together we will work out a "plan of action" that is unique to your goals + circumstances.
All of our additional information (rental agreement, insurance requirements, airplane SOP, etc.) will be made available by email or in person.
