I have loved flying as long as I can remember and have been an AV-geek my whole life. From 6 years old, I was building plastic airplane models and eventually moved up into flying R/C airplanes (including one into the side of my father's new truck)! As a young adult, I was an Eagle Scout and dreamed of attending the U.S. Air Force Academy and flying fighter jets. However, life had different plans for me.
After a rough start to flight training, I decided to pursue college instead and focused on raising a family. I am the proud father of one son and two daughters - all three of which took their first ever plan rides with me as their pilot. Someday I hope to be able to teach all three of them how to fly!
During the regular week, I am a Supply Chain professional in the oil & gas industry. When not flying, I enjoy spending time with the family and love to cook and work in the yard.
I am a certificated flight instructor (CFI, ASEL) and hold a commercial certificate with an instrument rating. In addition, I hold a complex and high-performance endorsement. I have over 300 hours in Piper PA28 and 100 hours in the Mooney M20 series, in addition to others. I was a part-owner in a 1965 Mooney M20E and also enjoy teaching in various models - including Cessna, Cherokee, Grumman and Van's models.
I am a part-time CFI who loves teaching others how to fly, especially adults or late in life pilots. I am not a time-builder or future airline pilot who is teaching as a means to another career. My passion is to expand the number of general aviation pilots out there - and keep the general aviation a thriving industry.
I am working on adding instrument to my instructor certificate and would eventually love to learn multi-engine instruction and possible even expand into light jets or turboprops!
